The 2018/19 season will be the fifth year for the Thunder of Algonquin College under the Ottawa Lions experienced leadership. Below you will find information regarding team membership, the competitive schedule, and registration information.
Canada at the 2016 Rio Olympics demonstrated its relevance on the world stage, and to the sport of track and field. Before Rio, nobody knew the majority of the Canadian athletes including several of our very own Ottawa Lions competitive athletes.
André DeGrasse, changed the image of Canada in the world of track and field. However, DeGrasse, like so many other athletes, started somewhere else to get where he is today.
Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club has excelled at providing professional athletics training at the post-secondary level to clubs at the University of Ottawa and most recently at Carleton University and now La Cite Collegial. These students with the will and drive for excellence.
Algonquin College students can take advantage of this opportunity as well. Students will receive expert training from high caliber and very dedicated coaches.Students will gain knowledge and skills to live a health active lifestyle through the experiences offered.
The club is a great opportunity to network with students from other learning institutions, forge new friendships and support systems whether it’s a ride to practice or tutoring for school.
Students will experience an atmosphere of athletic excellence, and with HARD work will come perseverance, commitment, self-discipline, and possibly to train their way to being the next André DeGrasse!
