The Ottawa Lions are pleased to  host the High School Capital XC Challenge on Friday, October 14, 2016.    This will be the 1st year for the event as part of the new Capital XC Challenge.

HOW TO ENTER: There are two ways to enter.

  1. School Team Entry Option Coaches – load a bus up with your athletes and teams. There is no advance championship qualification process so you can start planning your school’s participation NOW. Just simply follow the directions provided. EMAIL US AT MEETENTRY@OTTAWALIONS.COM FOR THE TEAM ENTRY ONLINE PROCESS. Use this great event to help promote and recruit athletes to your school teams.
  2. “Individual Entry Option” – Pass it ON – EMAIL US AT MEETENTRY@OTTAWALIONS.COM Give the information to the parents or your student athletes to share with their parents to enter the championship. Parents can easily handle the athlete entry online system. Parents with school designated permission of school administration are welcome to organize and bring the school teams. There will be excellent “race day” support.

THE RACES & AWARDS: Three separate age group events are run over an outstanding course scribed into Mooney’s Bay Park.   The course has received rave reviews from coaches and parents on it spectator friendly access, its course challenges and the spectacular final finish that runs into the Terry Fox Athletics Stadium.   The awards for each race division take place immediately upon conclusion of each race.   Event shirts are presented to the top 20 finish placers in each race division, Awards will be presented to the top 3 Individual placers in each race division as well as the Top 3 schools in each race division and Coach. There will also be prize money to the Top School in each Race Division. $500 in support for team travel to their respective school championship meets. $300 for 2nd place and $200 for 3rd place teams. In the Open 4km Development Race there will be awards to the top 10 female and male finishers

RACE ORGANIZERS & VOLUNTEERS & SPONSORS:  The event administration is constructed by the Ottawa Lions Track & Field Club.  The University of Ottawa Gee Gee Cross Country team provides the course volunteer support and leads the athletes from the start line warm-up, race start and then all the way to the awards podium.

This event has been made possible by the generous support and contributions from The Running Room, the promotional and awards support of Run Ottawa and the timing and finish line management of SportsStats and the volunteer support of the University of Ottawa and Carleton University Cross Country team athletes.
