Stay active for life. The Masters program is designed for athletes aged 30 and up, and it has plenty of room for every type — from the novice competitor to the athletics veteran.
Masters athletics is a chance to open yourself up to new events and new skills, whether you train for recreation or for competition. It is an excellent way to get fit, stay fit, test yourself, travel, and enjoy an individual sport.
Age divisions
Competitive masters track and field is organised into five-year age divisions from the age of 30 — 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, and onward into the 90s, and occasionally beyond the century mark.
You compete against people your own age, so a personal best matters as much at 65 as it did at 25.
Memberships
Membership runs by season block. Take the full year, one of the two semi-annual blocks, or the outdoor season on its own.

Recreational membership
Recreational membership covers coaching, training equipment and facility access without the competition support. Pricing varies and is confirmed with the head coach — get in touch and we will set it up.
Training Times
The windows below are when the track is open to the program. Specific days and times vary based on the season, the coach and the event group.
Daytime slots between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm can be booked — contact the head coach to arrange one. For the specific days and times that apply to your event group, get in touch.
What Athletes Receive
Coaching and facilities
The best coaching and technical leadership, and use of training equipment at both the Dome and the Terry Fox Athletic Facility.
A seasonal pass to the Terry Fox Facility at Mooney’s Bay, access to the Dome @ Louis Riel during club training hours, and reduced entry fees to Ottawa Lions hosted events.
Competition support
Travel and accommodation coordination, and administrative support, for all club sanctioned events.
Athletes who wish to be registered for Athletics Canada sanctioned competitions — indoor from January 1, outdoor from May 1, or cross country from September — should notify the head coach as soon as possible.
Competition uniform
Annual and summer membership athletes who attend competitions are supplied with a uniform — top and bottom — and a t-shirt. A t-shirt is presented to all seasonal members.
The uniform belongs to the club and is to be worn at all club organized competitions and championships. No modifications are accepted. The athlete cleans and maintains it, and replaces any item that is damaged or lost by purchasing it from the club. Every two years the club considers replacing the competition uniform items, on their return.
