BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors of the Ottawa Lions Track & Field Club is made up of a diverse group of volunteers who bring a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and experiences to the organization.

Their role is to provide strategic leadership and ensure the long-term success of the club. This includes:

  • Developing policies — creating and updating procedures that help the club achieve its objectives.
  • Ensuring accountability — overseeing compliance with all legislative, contractual, and governance requirements.

Per our Club’s By-laws, the Board may be composed of 6 to 14 directors.

In addition, the Board strives to include:

How to join our Board of Directors

The election of Board members takes place at our Annual Members’ Meeting, held each year on the first Monday in February.

Each year, a Nominations Working Group is formed to oversee the annual nominations process and present a slate of candidates to members at the Annual Members’ Meeting. As part of this process:

  • Each September, the Working Group conducts a Board skills assessment and consults with members whose terms are expiring to confirm if they intend to seek re-election. This helps ensure the Board maintains diversity, specialized skills, and experience.
  • At the Board’s October meeting, the Working Group uses this information to identify priority areas for recruiting new Board members.
  • Between October and December, the Working Group solicits and reviews applications to join the Board of Directors.
  • The Working Group presents a slate of Board candidates for election at the Annual Members’ Meeting.
