Carleton University Ravens — Track & Field / Cross Country

Operated in partnership with the Ottawa Lions. The Ravens compete in the RSEQ conference with pathways to the USPORTS Championships.

Reduce Your Fees

Work home meets (Capital XC Challenge, Raven Relays, uOttawa HS Invite, National Capital Classic, Canadian Championships) and earn $50 credit per meet toward a future season or the club’s outdoor season.

Payment, Refunds & Admin
  • Complete online registration + Carleton admin forms (shared by Head Coach).
  • Installments may be arranged (credit card or post-dated cheques).
  • Academic-year memberships must be fully paid by Jan 1, 2026.
  • Refunds within 14 days of registration; $50 administration fee applies.
Uniforms (Competitive Kit & Team Package)
  • Returning comp kit (singlet & shorts): $100.
  • Speed suit (optional): Women $105, Men $120.
  • New athletes: one-time team package — backpack, T-shirts, warm-up jacket & pants: $250.
  • Replacement costs: Singlet $65, Shorts $45, Jacket $100, Pants $65, Backpack $65, T-shirt $20.
Conditions of Registration
  • Must be a paid member in good standing; follow team & club policies.
  • Home competitions are mandatory (compete or volunteer) unless pre-approved by the Head Coach.
  • Meet travel fees (ground) are paid before departure via Trackie travel pages.
  • Compete in team uniform; “no-show/scratch” entry fees must be reimbursed unless medically/academically justified.
  • Travel cancellations after confirmation: athlete responsible for full/partial costs.
  • Meet entry and travel deadlines must be met.

Cross Country — Fall Process & Selection

Declare by Sep 11 with the Head Coach and complete all eligibility steps.

  • Thu Sep 4: Distance/Mid-D Team Run — Lansdowne Park (5:00pm, east entry of Aberdeen Pavilion)
  • Fri Sep 5: Team Meeting on campus (2:00pm)
  • Sat Sep 6: Practice — Terry Fox (9:00am)
  • Sun Sep 7: Team Meeting on campus (11:00am)
  • Mon Sep 8: Practice — Terry Fox (4:30pm)
RSEQ & USPORTS Selection
  • RSEQ eligibility: compete in at least two RSEQ meets; for team eligibility at RSEQ, a team of 5 must finish at least one RSEQ meet.
  • RSEQ selection factors: consistency, progression, health, race results/training.
  • USPORTS eligibility: must compete at RSEQ Championships; up to 7 per gender selected.
  • USPORTS team qualification: finish ≥3rd at RSEQ Championships; individuals considered around top-20 among USPORTS-eligible athletes.

Indoor Track & Field — Process & Selection

Kickoff Week
  • Fri Sep 5: Team Meeting on campus (2:00pm)
  • Sat Sep 6: Practice — Terry Fox (10:30am)
  • Sun Sep 7: Team Meeting (1:30pm) — for those who missed Fri
  • Mon Sep 8: Practice — Terry Fox (5:30pm)
RSEQ Team Selection
  • Compete in at least two RSEQ meets.
  • No roster cap; Head Coach consults with personal coaches where results aren’t decisive.
  • Considerations: results, progress, head-to-head, rankings, contribution to relays, impact on school records/all-time lists.
  • Field/straightaway events weighed equally across venues (no conversions).
  • Injured athletes are not named; final RSEQ team set Sun, Feb 16.
USPORTS Selection & Credits
  • Must qualify per USPORTS rules; possible pre-Nationals relay test the Saturday prior.
  • Injured athletes or those not on the conference team are ineligible.
  • Credits applied to future team programs/camps: $200 for qualifiers; $500 for individual medal; $100 for relay medal.
Relays — Selection Notes

On 200m tracks, baton skills and repeatable relay splits matter most.

  • Aggressiveness & consistency in relay splits on flat 200m tracks are prioritized over other tracks.
  • Flat-200m results in 200/400/800 considered; conversion factors applied vs. oversized/banked tracks.
